Hi! I wonder how many children on thi sforum could actually crawl? I keep hearing opinions taht kids with achondroplasia can never crawl. For a few weeks now Sebastian has been trying to ...crawl I guess...I wonder if he will be able to get up on his knees and crawl like most of the kids.

Oooh, he's so cute!!!!!!!!!!

It's true that most kids with ap will never crawl in the "normal way".
They mostly crawl by pulling themselfs forward, and pushing back with their knees. Their arm are just too short to carrie the weight.
Try for yourself to crawl on your elbows, that's what they feel if they have to crawl the normal way.

It's like most things, they just do it their own way, you don't have to teach them. So don't worry, for our "AP Kids" this is a perfectly normal way to crawl!! :)

Sebastian looks like he is doing very well for himself!

Arthur never really crawled either. He commando crawled for a while, but to get where he wanted to be he preferred sort of rolling like a log (over on his sides), which was faster and easier for him, and later butt-scooting (hopping-sliding on his behind). I think for AP kids true crawling it is actually harder than walking, so that they walk first and then obviously don't really see the point anymore

Cheers!
